Redefining Leadership in Beauty and Wellness: Lessons from Our First Beautypreneurs Event
Leadership looks different in every chair, salon, and studio. At our first Beautypreneurs event, industry leaders came together to share what leadership means in their personal and professional lives. The discussion revealed something powerful: men and women often define leadership in distinct but complementary ways, showing that there’s no single path to success in the beauty, barbering, and wellness industry.
Men’s perspectives: legacy and balance
Many of the men in the room spoke about legacy. For them, leadership meant building something that lasts, whether that’s a thriving business, reputation for excellence, or a foundation for their families. They spoke openly about the challenge of balancing fatherhood and career, and how success for them is measured by the ability to create a future that extends beyond themselves.
The topic of mental health was grounded in these conversations, especially when navigating the balance between family responsibilities and growing their businesses. In this men’s mental health month, vulnerability and understanding are valued to listen, talk, and support people struggling
Women’s perspectives: impact and progress
Women in the discussion emphasised progress and visibility. Leadership, for them, was about breaking barriers or ‘glass ceiling’ in an industry that often overlooks women’s innovation and entrepreneurship, especially self-employed and small-owned businesses.
They expressed their vision through the immediate impact they can have on their communities and planning for the next phase of their journeys, whether that’s scaling their business or mentoring others.
Shared goals: community and collaboration
Despite different perspectives, everyone agreed on one thing: leadership in this industry cannot exist in isolation. The conversation shifted naturally toward collaboration, community, and shared learning. Participants expressed the importance of supporting one another in this industry, not just to build profitable and sustainable businesses, but to nurture environments where people feel seen, valued, and empowered.
What this means for Beautypreneurs?
These conversations are the heart of what Beautypreneurs aims to build. Our mission is to create a space where beauty, barbering, and wellness leaders can connect, share knowledge, and strengthen their leadership. We believe that true success comes from balancing growth with purpose, ambition with wellbeing, and the social responsibility to uplift the community.
