Get involved!
This October, during Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, we’re launching a new Lunch & Learn webinar series to support frontline service providers i.e. salon owners, hairdressers, beauticians in safeguarding awareness.
The first session focuses on domestic abuse, helping professionals recognise the signs and respond effectively when clients, colleagues or themselves may be at risk.
Why this matters:
Hairdressers, beauty, barbering and wellness professionals see clients regularly and build unique trust.
Salons can often be safe spaces where individuals disclose personal struggles.
With the right training, the industry can become a stronger ally in safeguarding vulnerable people.
What you’ll gain from the session:
Clear understanding of domestic abuse, including physical, emotional, financial, and sexual abuse
Practical tools for having safe, supportive conversations and environments
Knowledge of referral pathways and resources
Confidence in your role as a safeguarding ally in the industry
The webinar also raises awareness for hairdressers and beauticians who are experiencing, or at risk of domestic abuse; and provides guidance on how they can safeguard themselves, their employees, and businesses.
The webinar will be delivered in partnership with Hollie Gazzard Trust and Kesis Consulting. Jane Harvey, CEO of the Hollie Gazzard Trust will share her expertise on preventing domestic abuse and safeguarding against stalking.
The Trust honors Hollie Gazzard, a beloved hairdresser from Gloucester, tragically lost to domestic violence in her salon.
Joining Jane is Tina Pokuaah from Kesis Consulting, with 15+ years of global safeguarding experience, and Michaela Anderson, CEO of Beautypreneurs. Together, they’re empowering frontline professionals to recognise, respond to, and prevent domestic abuse—right at the root.
