New Initiative Launch - Lunch & Learn: Domestic Abuse Awareness
In recognition of Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, Beautypreneurs CIC are hosting a free Lunch & Learn webinar aimed at equipping salon owners, beauticians, barbers, and wellness professionals with the tools to recognise and respond to domestic abuse and safeguarding concerns.
The online event, taking place on Wednesday 15th October 2025, will highlight the unique role that beauty and barbering professionals play in supporting vulnerable clients. Clients often see their beauticians and barbers more regularly than healthcare providers, positioning the beauty and barbering industry as a frontline for early recognition of abuse.
The session will cover:
· How to spot signs of domestic abuse, including physical, emotional, financial, and sexual abuse
· Approaches to safe and compassionate client conversations
· Safeguarding responsibilities and referral pathways
· Building a culture of awareness and support in the workplace
“Salon professionals are trusted confidants. We don’t just provide treatments, but often listen to personal problems that clients may feel unable to share with friends or family. By providing training and awareness, we can empower frontline beauty and barbering professionals to recognise when a client may be in danger and guide them towards safety and support,” said Michaela Anderson, Founder of Beautypreneurs.
The webinar will be delivered in partnership with Kesis Consulting, a safeguarding specialist organisation whose work is rooted in cultural competence and trauma-informed practice, with a strong focus on domestic abuse, mental health, and serious youth violence.
“From personal experience, I know just how powerful a role beauty professionals play. They are often the ones people feel safe enough to be vulnerable with. Whether it’s a regular client or a one-off appointment, there is trust there. And that trust can be life-changing.
This session isn’t about turning beauticians into safeguarding professionals—it’s about helping them feel confident to spot the signs, respond appropriately, and know how to gently signpost someone to the support they may desperately need,” said Tina Pokuaah, Founder and Lead Facilitator, Kesis Consulting.
This initiative forms part of a wider movement to integrate safeguarding awareness into the beauty, barbering, and wellness industries. Beautypreneurs, a community-led organisation launched in October 2024, has a mission to empower service-based leaders in Beauty, Barbering, and Wellness to embody true leadership, create a lasting legacy, and operate with social responsibility.
